Ocean Club, a Luxury Collection Resort by Marriott Review

Nestled on a cliffside, Ocean Club, a Luxury Collection Resort by Marriott, transports you to a world of stunning beauty and tranquility. With its breathtaking views, modern rooms, and a range of activities, this resort offers a unique blend of luxury and natural splendor. In this honest review, I’ll share with you the key aspects of this property on the North Coast of the Dominican Republic.

1. Property Review of Ocean Club, Luxury Collection

The Ocean Club, a Luxury Collection Resort, Costa Norte Property Review

The resort is an absolute marvel, you’ll find it perched on a cliff with a sense of seclusion and grandeur. Boasting with multiple outdoor pools, three restaurants (two exclusive to weekends), and an intimate private beach, the property offers a luxury experience. My favorite part of the property was the beautiful hot tubs that overlook the beach, it was the perfect setting for an oceanside sunset.

2. The Rooms at Ocean Club, Luxury Collection

The modern and sleek rooms offer a comfortable stay. The standard room did feel a bit small to us – I wouldn’t recommend it. If you can splurge, the suite with a full kitchen will make you feel like you’re on a proper vacation. The food in the DR wasn’t up to our par so we loved having the opportunity to cook and make a few meals with the kitchen as we were staying for a week. Plus you have a larger bedroom, better shower, a proper living room, and your own private balcony to catch a sunrise or sunset. We were very happy with the suite and low-key wanted to stay there for a month.

3. Activities Provided by the Ocean Club, Luxury Collection

  1. It was so nice to have activities provided by the Ocean Club hotel. You can expect everything from sunrise and sunset yoga to paddleboarding, kayaking, and snorkeling. The staff’s willingness to kayak guests to the nearby prime snorkeling spot really added to the overall convenience and enjoyment.

4. Location of the Ocean Club, Luxury Collection

  1. You’ll find this hotel located in Sosua with it’s own small private beach area. We noticed that a lot of this region was underdeveloped and there is a stark contrast between the high-end resort and the local surroundings showcasing the socioeconomic divide in the region. The property is designed in a way that you don’t have to leave, but of course the desire to explore will require a car to venture to areas like Cabarete and Kite Beach. Everything is within a 15 minute car ride. If you’re looking for some activities to do, check out this article.

5. Dining at The Ocean Club, Luxury Collection

The resort offers three restaurants, each contributing to a diverse dining experiences. The views from the restaurants are spectacular and we couldn’t believe more people weren’t coming to try it out. We found the food across the DR to be mediocre but this hotel offered some better variety. Continental breakfast, often included, features a delightful selection of meats, pastries, juices, coffee, and delicious fruits. Having breakfast at the main restaurant was a relaxing way to start the day

6. Working Remotely at the Ocean Club, Luxury Collection

  1. If you end up staying in the standard room and need space to work, the staff accommodates by offering the private dining room in the main restaurant, which has STUNNING views of the ocean. I loved working from there. As expected with Marriott, the wifi is reliable and only went out on me once for a brief moment during the week I was there.

7. Service

Although we had a slight issue with our room type with the front desk, the rest of the staff is very friendly and attentive to your needs. They are all hardworking so remember to bring some extra cash to tip those that go the extra mile.

Ocean Club, a Luxury Collection Resort by Marriott, is a treasure on the North Coast of the Dominican Republic. From its unparalleled views and modern amenities to inclusive activities and attentive service, it offers a retreat that balances luxury with the natural beauty of its surroundings. Despite the surprising under-occupancy, this resort stands as a top choice for those seeking an exclusive and unforgettable escape on the enchanting shores of the DR. A great place if you’re looking to impress a spouse or want to be some where comfortable and modern with a family.
